"Sego Jagung" : A Typical Food from Salatiga

Salatiga, well known as a resting place during Dutch colony in Indonesia, lies between two big cities, Semarang and Solo. It has cool climate for it is on the foot of mount Merbabu.
On the sunny day, we can see the mountain clearly. The graceful steady mount Merbabu has been witnessing Salatiga as one of traditional culinary spots in Java for long time ago.

"Sego Jagung" (corn rice), a cheap traditional food which my wife bought it for me at IDR 2,000 from a wandering food seller, but the price may be varied among sellers, is assured to have a nutrition value higher than rice, and consume corn rice which its high content of magnesium may reduce the possibility of getting high blood pressure and diabetic disease.

This "Sego Jagung" served with boiled or blanched vegetables, such as cabbage, spinach and mustard greens with "urap kelapa" (grated coconut seasoned with salt, palm sugar and garlic), "sambal" (chili paste) and "peyek teri" (anchovies crackers). However, for those who have hypertention, i suggest not to eat the "peyek teri", since it tastes salty.
So, if you are wanting to eat "Sego Jagung" for breakfast (the best time to enjoy it), you should have it when it is still warm.
