Enjoy "Pecel Kecombrang" and "Mendoan" after exploring "Telaga Sunyi", Baturraden-Purwokerto

A trip of culinary tourism in Banyumas Regency is almost endless. It means this region is trully rich with exotic and delicious local foods as well as its interesting tourist attractions. Here in "Telaga Sunyi" you can experience both.

"Telaga Sunyi" is a kind of small lake nestled merely a ten-minute drive (2.6 km) from a well known "Lokawisata Baturraden" or 35 minutes drive from Purwokerto, the biggest city in the southwestern of Central Java Province.
This small lake (Telaga), which is near "Baturraden Adventure Forest" used to be deserted (Sunyi) and remote for the road to get there was smaller and uncomfortable, so it was often neglected by people, and they prefered spending their leisure time either with friends or family in "Lokawisata Baturraden".
However, presently, the road to "Telaga Sunyi" is adequate, which automatically boost the development of the nearby tourist attractions, such as "Baturraden Adventure Forest" and "Curug Telu".
Once you arrive at the location, and buy the entrance ticket, then you park your vehicle in a cool wide parking area surrounded by agathis dammara plants. They are source of dammar gum which can be up to 60 metres in height. From here you just need to walk for about 5 minutes to get in the location.
It means you require only a little effort and indeed without extra energy to see a breathtaking place where you will encounter yourself really in a nature environment which is in the basin of a mountain slope of Slamet, the biggest mountain in Java island.

"Telaga Sunyi" whose water is clean, clear and cold is 5 metres deep, although it looks shallow, especially when the sunshine hits its water, we can see the bottom clearly, but you should be careful. Here I saw two women enjoyed their time swimming and few times they took underwater photos, and on the other side (it isn't deep) a small group of girls were having selfies while submerging their bodies in the shallow water.
In my opinion, "Telaga Sunyi" is a nice place to have selfies and you can still find peace and serenity as well.

Before leaving "Telaga Sunyi", you may want to try the exotic Banyumas dish, called "Pecel Kecombrang", and it is eaten with "Mendoan".
"Pecel" is traditional Javanese dish of steamed or boiled vegetables and peanut sauce to accompany Indonesian staple food of steamed rice or rice cake. However, it is different and unique if we compare to other "pecel" (see: Nasi Pecel Pincuk Nanggulan-Salatiga) as it is added boiled "Kecombrang" (Etlingera elatior), the pink flowers.
In "Telaga Sunyi" I ate "Pecel Kecombrang" which consisted of "ketupat" (rice cooked in woven palm leaf), tofu, "kecombrang", long beans, bean sprouts, chayote fruit, mustard greens, peanut sauce, and I had "Pecel Kecombrang with two pieces of delicious "Mendoan", which traditionally in the Banyumas territory made from soy bean and it is fried with seasoned flour, and a glass of tea for IDR 13k (USD 1).
