Arisarmu - Having porridge, either for breakfast or lunch, is commonly acceptable for mostly Indonesian people since sweet and savory taste become our delight. Here, at "Tjangking Aneka Bubur" (Tjangking a variety of porridge), you can testify the assumption.
Located at jalan Seruni 195 Salatiga, it is on the corner of a small dead-end alley, and if you drive a car, you can park it on jalan Seruni. Although it is only a dwelling house, but its place is quite comfortable. "Bu Puji", the owner, with her hospitality, will serve you. She is still energetic and has been selling porridge after retairing from a civil servant in January 2012. According to "Bu Puji", her porridge stall has become a culinary tourism destination both for Salatiga residents and outsiders, such as those from Ungaran Regency and Semarang City. And my son David said that he liked to have porridge here after school.

You can choose your favourite porridge here from sweet porridge, such as "Bubur Kacang Ijo" (mung bean porridge), "Bubur Candil" (glutinous rice flour porridge), "Bubur Sumsum" (rice flour porridge), "Bubur Ketan Hitam", (black sticky rice porridge), "Bubur Sagu Mutiara" (sago porridge), and "Bubur Telo" (sweet potato porridge).
Sweet porridge comes from a various areas in Indonesia, and all usually have sweet and savory taste for they have an exotic taste from coconut milk, palm sugar and a pandanus leaf. And I think these porridges are suitable for my appetite... One portion of sweet porridge costs at IDR 5,000.

Lastly, "Bubur Tumpang Koyor", is considered as a typical food from Salatiga. It's basically made from cow muscle, young cow bone and beef included its tallow, water, coconut milk and spices, then simmer for minimum two hours. After that add tofu and the last ingredient to make this porridge tastes authentic is "tempe bosok" (soy bean cake that almost be rotten and has a strong smell) to enrich its flavour. Many Salatiga people like it so much, they don't care if it contains high cholesterol. One portion of "Bubur Tumpang Koyor" costs at 1 IDR 8,000. This porridge stall opens daily from 7 am to 5 pm.
