Mie Ongklok Sate Sapi Pak Muhadi, Wonosobo

Are you heading to Wonosobo, a small town in Central Java Province? Checking out its local food, the uniqueness and the delicacy of "Mie Ongklok Sate Sapi" pak Muhadi.

"Mie Ongklok" is a typical boiled noodle from Wonosobo, a cool town surrounded by mount Sumbing, mount Sindoro and a stunning tourist attraction, Dieng Plateau.
If you are travelling from Semarang to Purwokerto or vice versa, Wonosobo is the half way of your journey, so, i think it's a suitable moment for you to have a rest and enjoy the delicacy of "Mie Ongklok".
"Mie" is an Indonesian word for noodle, while "Ongklok" is a local word for describing how to cook the noodle by a unique method. First, place noodle, sliced cabbage and sliced watercress into a bamboo strainer, then immerse them into boiling water for a while, and mix them well (we called it "ongklok), after that, put them into a bowl, and add thick broth which is made from beef stock, palm sugar, "ebi" (dried small shrimp), starch, and other spices, finally sprinkle with fried shallot. It taste sweet and savory, and if you like, it can be added grinded green chili (optional).
For me, what make "Mie Ongklok" Wonosobo special as it is served with "Sate Sapi" (beef satay) in peanut sauce. This makes a perfect blend, so, "Mie Ongklok Sate Sapi" pak Muhadi is considered as the most popular in Wonosobo, and it should be your first choice if you want to experience a culinary tourism in Wonosobo.
