Soto Daging Sapi (beef soup) Lamongan : cak Ngun-cak Sodik Yogyakarta

Arisarmu - Yogyakarta is famed for a wide selections of its tourisms from stunning beaches, amazing temples, exotic cultures, until old buildings. And it is no surprise then that the city becomes a favorite tourist destination in Indonesia. In a result, many options of delicious local cuisines, as a part of culinary tourism, are offered in this vibrant city, such as "Soto Sapi Lamongan".

Soto Lamongan is one of the typical food of East Java which has delicious and savoury taste is made from either beef broth or chicken broth. And the presence of Soto Lamongan stalls in other regions is the evidence that the dish is popular among Indonesian people.

Cak Ngun and cak Sodik are siblings who share a same stall to sell Soto Sapi (beef soup) Lamongan on Veteran street. From 6 am cak Sodik starts selling Soto until 12 am, then he will be replaced by cak Ngun until 8 pm. If one of them doesn't open, he will be substituted by the other. It's a good team work, isn't it? The quality of service and the taste I think are same because they live next to each other.

"Soto" (see: Soto Sokaraja and Soto Segeer mbok Giyem) along with "Bakso" (see: Bakso RRI Purwokerto and Bakso Planet Salatiga) are arguably to be the most popular dishes in Indonesia, a tropical country which has wet and dry seasons.
Soto Sapi Lamongan cak Ngun - cak Sodik consists of rice, sliced beef and little tallow, beansprouts, sliced celery, sliced cabbage and beef broth. It is so tasty. Therefore the stall is always busy with customers.

To enhance its flavour, on tables have already available soy sauce, chili sauce and sliced lemons, and you can add them into your Beef Soto. I think I squeezed to much lemon juice into my Soto, so it tasted a bit sour. It would have tasted better if I hadn't added to much extract juice from lemon into my Soto.

Anyway, my son, David and I, we both really enjoyed our lunch here. And tasty side dishes are also available on tables, such as "Kerupuk" (Indonesian crackers), Egg Satay, Innards Satay, Fried Soy bean and "Perkedel Kentang" (Potato Fritters). They were nice to accompany our "Soto Sapi Lamongan". In addition, there was a live solo music performing folk songs played with guitar and harmonica by a man with his beautiful voice. It was awesome.
