"Pemandian Muncul" - A Refreshing Spring Pool, Semarang Regency

Arisarmu - It's obvious why Pemandian Muncul is a nice place for those who view swimming as a purely recreational activity and also for swimming enthusiasts who seek a type of an aerobic exercise and a pleasure in a natural spring pool which its water is fresh, clean and abundant whole year.

One of the most popular recreation spots to be visited when you are in Salatiga is Pemandian Muncul (Muncul Bathing Place). It is a natural spring pool which is nestled in Muncul Village, Banyubiru Sub-district, Semarang Regency, Central Java. And its location is easily accessible as it is on Jalan Raya Salatiga - Muncul, just 20 minutes drive (9.8 km) from Salatiga. It opens from 06.00 am to 06.00 pm.

On the right side of Pemandian Muncul is Java Mineral Water Company while on the left side is a stream. And there are also some food stalls in the complex of its parking area. But if you don't want to bother you can buy drinks, snacks, noodles and many more inside.
During school holiday and weekends, without a doubt this natural spring pool is always crowded by visitors  who want to swim or just dip in the water, so to avoid visitor crowds it is recommended to come earlier in the morning.

Tourist Attraction of Pemandian Muncul

When you arrive at Pemandian Muncul, you will see two big Trembesi trees (Rain Trees) of hundreds years old within the parking lot make the air cool and fresh. The trees are usually planted on wide public places  are renowned to have the ability to absorb CO2 tens times more than other trees and also their capability to absorb a  lot of ground water, so water often drips from these trees.

Muncul Village is broadly known to have abundant deposit of groundwater. And "water is available everywhere whole year, even during dry season", said a parking attendant who is originally from this village proudly. But he didn't know exactly when was Pemandian Muncul built. After talking to him and the other parking attendant I can make a conclusion that the bathing place has existed since the Dutch occupation in this country (Indonesia). So it was before the year 1945! While the building was constructed in the year 1969 and it has been renovated three times so far.

The natural spring water always comes out from the bottom of the main pool, then it's distributed to children's pools, it makes the water always fresh, pure and clean without chemicals like chlorine or caphorite are added to the swimming pools. No wonder Pemandian Muncul becomes favorite among swimming enthusiasts in Salatiga and surrounding areas. And of course it's my favorite swimming pool.

The water is abundant. be careful, I've ever slipped here.

A place to rinse off (the other two at the corners) Be careful this is also slippery.

To accommodate different swimmers requirements, the main pool of Pemandian Muncul with a length of approximately 21 meters and a width of approximately 18 meters has four different depths -- 3 meters, 2.5 meters, 1.6 meters, and 0.6 meters. The color of the ground floor indicates its deepness. The blue ground floor is 0.6 meters and 1.6 meters deep while the black one is deeper, 2.5 meters and 3 meters deep where the big gush of natural spring water comes out continuously. And when I swim in this main pool I often see some fish.

There are two swimming pools for kids, but the water isn't as fresh as the main swimming pool because the water isn't directly from the spring water. They get the water from the main pool.

I used to swim at Pemandian Muncul at 06.00 am three times a week, however, for some reasons (mostly of being lazy haha..), I stopped swimming for a long time. Then, last week I started swimming again. Hopefully, i can do it routine to keep my body fit.
