Pura Batu Bolong, The Most Appealing Hindu Temple in Lombok

Arisarmu - Lombok is so diverse. Not just pretty white sand beaches, tasty local cuisines, its nice people, and you can also find many Balinese temples here. Arguably, Pura Batu Bolong is the most enticing of all.

If you are driving from your hotel in Senggigi to Bangsal Harbour, on the left side you will see a Hindu temple which is popularly called Pura Batu Bolong, literally means temple of 'rock with hole'.

Pura Batu Bolong is located on Jalan Raya Senggigi, Batu Layar, West Lombok Regency. It's worth a trip to see the temple perched on the sturdy black rocks on the beach.

When I first arrived at this temple, prior the entrance, a guard helped me to tie a yellow cloth around my waist as it is a compulsory if someone wants to enter any temples and then she asked me for giving a donation. There was no entrance ticket. I gave her IDR 10.000 (USD 0.70).

At the moment there were many prayers worshiping, so I had to be respecful and understand the rules, especially when I ventured into the temple and took some photographs. If a tourist isn't wearing a yellow cloth around his waist, it can be considered a disrespectful act.

As the temple is next to the sea shore, so it has a very nice view, and for Hindus who are praying, the sound of the waves and the sea breeze seem to deliver them closer to the universe. In a result they can pray more solemnly.
