Yogya Kembali Monument - The Indonesian Struggle for Independence


Arisarmu - Yogya Kembali Monument is a sign of The Indonesian Nation struggle againts Dutch colonialism during 1945 - 1949. 

Step inside the area of Yogya Kembali Monument  (the recapture of Yogyakarta Monument) for an unforgettable history when Dutch occupation troops were withdrawn from the capital of Yogyakarta on June 29, 1949. This as a sign of the real beginning of Indonesia's freedom from the Dutch colony.
Then venture into the pyramid-shaped monument, built on June 29, 1985, with three stories which was inaugurated by Soeharto, the second President of Republic Indonesia on June 6, 1989.

Museum

Yogya Kembali Monument has four museum rooms which are on the first floor collecting and displaying collectibles, they are in the form of; reality, replicas, photos, documents, various types of weapons, an evocative form of public kitchen which all describing the atmosphere during Indonesia independence between 1945 - 1949.



A various kinds of guns


This bed, which was taken from "Istana Negara Gedung Agung" (Gedung Agung National Palace), was ever used by the first Indonesian President, Soekarno, when Yogyakarta still became the Capital of the country from January 4, 1946 to December 27, 1949.


A Student Soldier Horse Cart: belonged to Sosendjaja, a former village chief of Sruworejo Village, Butuh Sub-district, Purworejo Regency. During Military Aggression 2 between 1948 - 1949 used by "Tentara Pelajar" (student soldier) Section 334, Company 330, Battalion 300 under the command of Chayat Sumarsono, headquartered in Kalianyar, Kutoarjo. It was used to carrying weapons and medical equipments as well as logistics assistance from Sosendjaja.

Library

On the first floor there is also a room intended for special library provides material references of Indonesian nation struggle for independence and can be utilized by public.

A Multy Purpose Room

If you come with a big group and need a guidance and an explanation of Yogya Kembali Monument, in the middle of the first floor there is a large room equipped with an open stage -- documentary screening, and this "Ruang Serbaguna" (Multipurpose room) of Yogya Kembali Monument can also be used for graduation activities, seminars, dancing competition etc. The room is equipped with chairs, air conditioning, sound system, projector (LCD and screen). 

Relief Panels

Physical struggle and diplomacy of the Indonesian nation from August 17, 1945 to December 28, 1949 can be seen through 40 relief panels on wall balustrade located on the outer court of the second floor which also has a function to protect the body of the monument.


Dioramas

The dioramas of physical struggle and diplomacy of the Indonesian nation from December 19, 1948 to August 17, 1949 with the size of life size presented in 10 rooms on the second floor.





Garbha Graha

The highest room which is on the 3rd floor is called Garbha Graha Room or quiet room. By entering this room, visitors are expected to be grateful for the gift of God for giving independence and invoke for the martyrs who were killed in maintaining the independence can be accepted in the side of God according to their charity and dedication.
