Which do you prefer, White Rice or Red Rice?


I guess most of you like to eat white rice better than red rice as it tastes nice and pairs well with plenty of your favourite side dishes.

Rice is the primary staple food in Indonesia. It's served daily as a basic food and in high quantity. Many people eat white rice three times a day. So you can find it throughout this islands country. Although Indonesia is one of the world's largest rice growers, however, it sometimes still needs to import rice from other countries to comply the domestic needs.

The most common rice to be consumed by Indonesians is white rice. It has some varieties that usually be sold in markets, such as Pandan Wangi, Rojolele, C4, GH, and Mentik wangi. Each has its own characteristic and also different price.


As consume to much white rice can lead obesity and increase blood glucose level which can cause diabetes. So many people start to change their habit by eating red rice instead of white rice. And because of the high demand of red rice, it's now sold many at supermarkets or even small shops but its price is much more expensive than white rice.

White rice, although the most popular, but it contains low in nutrients. While consume red rice is good to improve health as it contains more nutrition. It's high in fiber, more vitamins, less calorie and low glycemic  index that can naturally control sugar level in your body.

In the past my wife used to cook red rice for both of us, especially for me. In the first few months I could enjoy it. But it didn't last long I felt bored to eat it because of its tasteless, as it reduced the delicious taste of my meal in overall.

Realizing the health benefit of consuming red rice. I hope in the future it will be served on our dining table again. Perhaps, I will mix both white rice and red rice. How about yourself? (arisarmu.blogspot.com)
