Visit Jamu Jago (Herb) Museum Semarang


Jamu Jago Museum exhibits some examples of natural medicinal materials for making herb and old tools first used by this company to make herb.

Jamu Jago company is one of the oldest traditional medicine companies in Indonesia. It appreciates the value of herb as a precious tradition which gives virtue for life. The tradition has been  inherited since the early generation.

Jamu Jago company has produced hundreds of herb products to maintain and to improve the health of Indonesian people. It uses natural ingredients to maintain the high quality and beneficial.


Last month I went to Semarang, then when I was in front of Jamu Jago factory I decided to stop by to visit Museum Rekor Dunia-Indonesia (MURI), it stands for World Record Museum of Indonesia. As Jamu Jago Museum is at the same location. Precisely on the same floor, it's just on the next room, so I visited it as well.

As a big herb company in Indonesia, Jamu Jago uses natural ingredients for their products without chemicals added by applying good methods of making traditional medicines to produce quality and hygienic traditional herb.


LUMPANG dan ALU : These traditonal tools of mortars and pestles were first used by Jamu Jago in 1918. They contributed the company's growth until the year 1940.

Dried herbs to make traditional medicine, such as valerianae radix, gallae, amomi fructus and many more.

Essential oil extracts can be applied on skin

Examples of herb products which are available at herb's stalls within the country.


Although Jamu Jago museum is small and unfamous among tourists, however when you visit MURI, you will surely enter this museum. And at least you can learn something from it as what I did.
