Arisarmu - Being one of the three most famous Gilis in Lombok, Gili Trawangan always attracts many tourists to come, especially those who are from foreign countries. The fact that this Gili is bigger and has more facilities and exciting night life that can not be found on neighbor gilis nearby, neither Gili Air nor Gili Meno, so if you intend to travel to Lombok on your future holiday, Gili Trawangan should be written on your itinerary list.
Gili means small island in Sasak language. There are many gilis around Lombok and I am lucky that I've visited six of them. The other three, Gili Kedis, Gili Nanggu and Gili Sudak, are located in Sekotong Sub-district, West Lombok Regency, while Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno and Gili Air are nestled in Pemenang Sub-district, North Lombok Regency. The similarity of them if you take a boat to those Gilis you will see awesome landscapes with turquoise sea water, white sand beaches which offers you with amazing underwater view if you do snorkel. Furthermore, no motorbikes nor cars are allowed to operate on Gili Island except bicyles and cidomo (similar with horse cart but the wheels use car's wheels) to keep the air fresh and unpolluted for the comfort of you who seek a holiday destination in a wonderful small island.

Last vacation in Lombok, Gili Trawangan was my last destination after crossing to both Gili Meno and Gili Air on the previous day. It was fantastic holiday to stay one night on the Gili, started cycling around the island in the afternoon it's a good exercise for my leg's muscles as the road is still natural and sometimes I wasn't able to pedal my bike as the sand so thick and I had to walk and push it for few meters. It was done by other travelers as well that mostly foreigners but we all seemed enjoy our time.

Cycling around the Gili was so exciting although the whether was so hot but the beautiful view offered by Gili Trawangan made me not feel tired. I saw some tourists sunbathing, snorkeling or having nice food and drinks at cafes. Not only by bike to explore this island, some prefered walking and taking cidomo. Wow it would be great to experience with such a traditional transportation of Lombok. Cidomo drivers tend to speed up so you should be careful when you are on the road.
Last but not least I stopped for a while at a sea turtle conservation to see tukik, an Indonesian word for a baby of sea turtle or turtle. Gili Trawangan is also a place to keep the existence of sea turtles by collecting the eggs from the locals and help to incubate the eggs naturally and preserve and feed them in some pools until they are big enough to be released into the sea.
